It all began in 1991, when Grain of Wheat brought the first group of kids to a camp in La Bessonne, Switzerland. These children were from the Gomel region of Belarus that had been heavily contaminated by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. In 1994, Grain of Wheat established a camp ministry within Belarus. Over the past twenty years, this camp ministry has increased by over 2,500 children each summer. In 2017, Grain of Wheat began weekly clubs that now reach up to 1,000 children yearly.
Belarus’ vision is to reach the maximum number of children and see them become ambassadors of hope through Jesus-Christ. As well as equip and develop their potential as agents of transformation through sharing the message of God’s love within their community
This ministry primarily works with 50 local churches throughout Belarus. To reach the maximum number of children we hold camps, clubs, fairs and give leadership training. Due to the poverty of many children and their families, we also provide humanitarian aid such as food and clothing.
