Each week Grain of Wheat Spain touches more than 30 families who take part in a variety of activities that are offered there. Director, Javier Martin, is highly commited to reaching out not only to children, but their familes as well.
Javier explains, «Sharing the love of God is good, but including their families is even better! This is the vision of GWI Spain.» Javier is convinced that it is essential to personally interact, communicate and develop a friendship with families. «If they don’t know us, how will they ever feel comfortable entrusting their children to our care?» He continues, «When a child wants to come to one of our clubs, the first thing we do is contact the parents. We want to help them understand what we believe, who we are and what we do. But above all, we want to build a relationship of trust, so a parent feels comfortable knowing their child is safe when they join our activities. We also focus on organizing family camps and special game days where parents are invited to join their children. Whether our activities are held in a public park, playground or community center, local churches and the community at large are welcome to take part.
Another goal that is very important to us, is offering courses that provide support and practical parenting tools. In today’s society, this is needed more than ever. Sometimes parents come just to check us out, but we want each one to go home surrounded by the love of God for them and their children! Because we believe that God’s love is the answer so many families are looking for, we are highly committed to growing our outreach to 50 families a week, this year.»
