“Heroes can be Young Too” was the theme for Lebanon’s summer camps this year.
Kids from Syria and Lebanon were empowered to live boldly as leaders among their peers through learning how deeply the Lord loves and values them.
Bible stories of young leaders such as Josiah, Miriam, and Jesus as a boy set the stage for the camp lessons. Drama, music, games, small groups, devotionals, and object lessons further reinforced this message. But the greatest JOY was seeing these young heroes put what they were learning into action.
At first, Peter*, a nine-year old boy with learning disabilities was being teased and excluded by the other children. As the Grain of Wheat leaders showered Peter with Jesus’ love, the other kids also began to be kind and cared for him. They even chose Peter to play a lead role in the camp drama.
How inspiring to see Peter’s confidence and JOY shine as the other children learned to value him like Jesus does, proving that indeed Heroes can be Young Too!
