Can you describe the back- ground that makes this special training necessary?
«To understand the context of this training, it is essential to know the laws. Soon, a national policy that aims to fight against religious extre- mism and terrorism will be formalized. The impact of this law on our ministry is simple: all activi- ties outside of religious worship, such as the distribution of Christian literature, missionary activities and training seminars will be considered illegal.»
What are the objectives of this training?
«The training will focus on:
- Consolidating the work of our teammates who minister to children in Central Asia.
- Training national directors, coordinators and counselors for camps and clubs.
- Discuss the future of chilren’s ministry in this increasingly closed region.
- How to adapt our strategy to reach children with the Gospel.»
Despite this restrictive political context, will you hold more courses like this?
«This, unfortunately, will be the last training we will be able to hold in one country in Central Asia. We plan to hold our next seminar in another country. Even though the laws on freedom of religion are more stringent, they are not implemented by the authorities, so there is much more freedom there than in other neighboring countries.
The times in which we live are unique and challenging, but we know that within the thick darkness, the light will be brighter! Continue to pray for the leaders who live in remote areas, that their faith will be strengthened and their outreach to children will flourish.»
