Dan, a Ukrainian boy lives in the cityof Lugansk. As an «at risk» boy who has been traumatized by the war that surrounds him, he could hardly sleep at night. He constantly lived in the shadow of fear, yet he found the light at a GWI camp in Ukraine.
“I am so grateful that I was invited to this Grain of Wheat camp! Where I come from, there is war… it makes me very scared. One day there was a battle at our house. There was a lot of very loud noise, it was really horrible. The next day, gun shots began again. I was terrified! Since that day, I lay awake in bed every night, waiting for sleep that never comes. When I was invited to this camp, I didn’t want to go. I was afraid of being judged by the other children. A camp counselor asked me why I couldn’t sleep. I told him everything … I don’t know exactly what happened next, but I felt that God had worked in my heart.
Gradually, my sleep was filled with an indescribable peace! I knew it was because of Jesus! By the time camp was over, I was able to sleep like the others! I was so happy… it was God who had answered the prayers of my camp leader! God gave this miracle to me!”
